Always one step ahead with EcoFrog!
The modern solution for level measurement and monitoring of your heating oil tank
The Proteus EcoFrog is an innovative, battery-powered ultrasonic level sensor with WIFI connection and free web app for measuring the levels in fuel oil, waste oil, diesel and water tanks.
The ultrasonic sensor measures the contents of your tank regularly every 6 hours and transmits measurement data once a day via the WiFi router to a cloud-based data server. Your data can then be displayed free of charge on a web portal (Web App), which is also optimized for display on mobile devices such as smartphones.
The web portal shows you the daily filling level, the actual volume (in percent and litres), the battery level and the WiFi signal strength. It also generates historical measurement data and displays them graphically.
The installation is very simple and takes only a few minutes. Cabling is not necessary, as the ultrasonic sensor is battery-powered. You can immediately check if the sensor is working properly via Internet access.
The EcoFrog is the best alternative for thread floats, dipsticks, tank gauges or other mechanical systems and can also be used where connection to the mains is impossible. With this system, no need to check your cellar, cistern, apartment building or holiday home to avoid an empty tank. You can also easily read the consumption and compare prices for heating oil in time and prepare for the next order.
EcoFrog is very easy to install and compatible for 1 1/4″, 1 1/2″ and 2″ thread openings and therefore universally applicable for tanks with liquids, as long as a WiFi connection to the router is possible. Access to the web portal is included free of charge. Your sensor will be delivered pre-configured with your tank data by our customer service! This makes installation very easy, you only need to mount the device on the tank and connect it to the router.
The EcoFrog system consists of 3 components
- The EcoFrog ultrasonic level sensor with integrated WiFi modem
- The WiFi router for connecting to the Internet (must be provided by the customer)
- The cloud-based database with user interface (Web App).
As soon as the Ecofrog is installed on the tank, it measures the level every 6 hours. Once a day, the sensor sends the data through the built-in WiFi module to the nearby WiFi modem connected to the device.

Any modem that supports the WiFi standard 802.11 b/g/n is suitable for connecting the EcoFrog to a WiFi network. This applies to most current WiFi modems. Multiple EcoFrogs can be connected to a WiFi modem. When the modem is connected to the Internet, it automatically sends the collected tank level data to the cloud-based database.
Our user interface gives you quick and easy access to your level data, either via a smartphone or via your computer. Our web app is connected to the cloud system Microsoft Azure, in which your data is stored securely and ready for access. After you have logged in to our web app with your user data, you can select one of your sensors and immediately display the current filling level as well as the filling history of the respective tank.

Notes on installation
configuration help
- To ensure the best possible measuring environment, please note that the Proteus EcoFrog must be installed at a safety distance of at least 15 cm from tank walls and obstacles in the tank so that the ultrasonic signal from the sensor cannot be disturbed.
- The maximum measuring range is 3m. The ultrasonic sensor can only measure within this range
- Please note that fuel oil tanks are subject to TÜV regulations and changes (such as drilling holes) may only be made by licensed specialists. Usually this does not apply to water tanks and cisterns. Please inform about possible implications
- Make sure that there is a stable WiFi connection after mounting the device.
- Please download the latest version of the installation manual before installation.
